About Us

My photo
We are friends who share a love of boating~~Doug, Margie, Ginnie, Torben & Chester (our 5 year old Havanese, pictured in Ginnie's lap) on Main Attraction, a 56 foot Navigator, and Margi & Doug on Bowhaus, a 36 foot Grand Banks. From mid-May through mid-August 2016, we are embarking on the longest cruise of our life times. This is the summer of our Grand Alaskan Adventure. We've been planning for months and now we are ready!

Margi & Ginnie are at the Petersburg Public Library trying to get (and keep) Wi-Fi signals so we can update our photos. It's a challenge but we'll keep trying...

Leaving Ketchikan on a beautiful morning,
we passed by Guard Island

Meyers Chuck was a beautiful spot.  We were lucky to get alongside on the dock.  No power, but very secure and very funky.

Ginnie mailed a letter from Meyers Chuck.
The mail goes out just once a week.

Below:   We hiked to West Beach which was stunning.  Chester loved trotting through the woods and clambering on the rocks.

And then there was this fabulous sunset..

...Followed by a very calm morning.
Leaving Meyers Chuck, Bowhaus is ahead of Main Attraction entering the Clarence Channel.  Note the cruise ship heading southbound.

 Bowhaus approaching Wrangell

About half way up the Clarence Channel, the water becomes a glacial green.  Below is a shot from Wrangell Harbor that shows the change in water color

In Wrangell, it was nice and warm.
Great to be in shorts again.

Margi summed Wrangell up like this:

"Howdy from Wrangell -  an old time frontier town. The main/only street was maybe 1/3 of a mile long. Heavy fishing boat traffic, it was the end of the black mouth salmon season. Rarely did you see them bringing in any fish – they must drop their catch off at a processing plant. Except for City Market, three hardware/marine supply stores there really weren’t any stores to speak of. That’s about it for Wrangell, good stop but not much going on."

We have more pictures but have apparently pressed our luck too far with the library's Wi-Fi.  It's refusing to upload any more.  Stay tuned for more from Wrangell and Petersburg when we next have a connection.

  1. I am enjoying the blogs. Seems to be lots of interesting things
for you--I would have been thrilled about the pedicure--I thought
that you had explored the options before you embarked--I was correct. Keep up the news.
