Prince Rupert to Ketchikan

Prince Rupert is the jumping off point for Alaska and a good town with decent restaurants and shopping.  Grocery shopping at the large Safeway there was a real treat.  We stayed in PR three days and decided to bite the bullet, cross the Dixon Entrance and go all the way to Ketchikan in one day.  We left at 4:50 AM on Saturday.  Before arriving at the Dixon Entrance, the largest open body of water to deal with on this voyage,
careful navigation was required in Venn Passage.

BACK IN THE USA!
It took 10.5 hours to reach Ketchikan, most of those hours spent slogging it out in 3 foot swells in the Dixon Entrance, but we made it!

Approaching Ketchikan, one can't help but notice the cruise ships.  There were 5 ships in on Saturday and there are no less than 2 ships in port every day all summer long.

G&T's nephew and niece, Rob and Harmoni, flew down from Anchorage for the weekend to spend time with us.
We had great fun touring historic Creek Street, shopping and having Sunday brunch featuring Bloody Mary's made with salmon vodka.

We will reprovision and proceed north on Tuesday morning, weather permitting, of course!
