About Us

My photo
We are friends who share a love of boating~~Doug, Margie, Ginnie, Torben & Chester (our 5 year old Havanese, pictured in Ginnie's lap) on Main Attraction, a 56 foot Navigator, and Margi & Doug on Bowhaus, a 36 foot Grand Banks. From mid-May through mid-August 2016, we are embarking on the longest cruise of our life times. This is the summer of our Grand Alaskan Adventure. We've been planning for months and now we are ready!

Catching up...It's been awhile since we had reliable internet and we've experienced so much these past few days. Here's a quick summay:

May 31, Tuesday--We left Port McNeill on a
very calm, very early morning.

Main Attraction and Bowhaus are rafted together
anchor (left) in Fury Cove--a white sand and shell beach that was excellent for exploring.

Margi & Ginnie making a fashion statement at Fury Cove.
Note the matching boots.
June 1--The next stop was Pruth Bay,
location of the Hakai Marine Research facility

We hiked to West Beach.  Beautiful, as you can see below.  Chester loved it!

June 2 and 3 were unplanned days and nights spent
weathering our first storm at Pruth--40 mph winds howled throughout the night on Thursday.  Friday settled down a bit but we couldn't get away until Saturday morning.

Below, is the entrance to Pruth Bay on Saturday morning as we prepared to leave for Shearwater.

Saturday June 4--leaving Pruth Bay.  So calm.

Below:  A Bald Eagle lights in a tree at Shearwater.

June 5--Shearwater to Bottleneck Inlet where we spent a fantastic afternoon and night at anchor

Warm enough for dinner on the deck in tee shirts.
And no bugs!

June 6 to Hartley Bay, a first nations fishing village, where we celebrated Torben's birthday
We experienced the kindness of strangers in this village.  One group of fishermen brought us freshly caught and cooked crab and  then the dock assistant we had met earlier came with 2 salmon he'd just caught.

Jessie came with salmon and Torben gave him bbq ribs and meatballs from our freezer.

June 7--Hartley Bay to East Inlet (Klewnuggit Inlet)--Another lovely anchorage after transiting the first half of the Grenville Channel.

As we explored by dinghy, we discovered a stream
coming into the head of the inlet

June 8--today, Wednesday.  We are in Prince Rupert and finally have cell phone and internet access.  We'll be here until Friday when we hope to cross the Dixon Entrance and have one last anchorage at Foggy Bay before arriving in Ketchikan on Saturday.
